Sagittarius and Capricorn Compatibility: Guna Milan Score 1–2/15, Love & Marriage
Sagittarius and Capricorn Compatibility at a Glance
When the Moon is in Sagittarius (Dhanu rashi, ruled by Jupiter) for one partner and in Capricorn (Makar rashi, ruled by Saturn) for the other, the four rashi-based kootas of Ashtakoot Guna Milan score 1–2 out of 15 — a difficult base for marriage. A Bhakoot dosha forms and is not cancelled at sign level.
These scores use the Moon sign (rashi), not the Western Sun sign. The remaining 21 of the 36 gunas depend on each partner's nakshatra, so a full Kundli Milan with both birth details is always the final word.
Sagittarius–Capricorn Guna Milan: the Rashi Kootas
Only Varna depends on who is the groom — that is why two columns are shown.
| Koota | What it measures | Out of | Sagittarius groom | Capricorn groom |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Varna | Spiritual outlook — Sagittarius is Kshatriya, Capricorn is Brahmin | 1 | 0 | 1 |
| Vashya | Mutual attraction — Sagittarius is Chatushpada (four-legged), Capricorn is Jalachara (water) | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Graha Maitri | Friendship of the sign lords — Jupiter and Saturn | 5 | 0 | 0 |
| Bhakoot | Moon-sign distance: 2/12 — Dwirdwadash | 7 | 0 | 0 |
| Rashi total | 15 | 1 | 2 |
Maximum possible from these four kootas: 15. The scores above are calculated with the same rules as the Astroly Kundli Milan tool.
Bhakoot: Sagittarius and Capricorn Moon-Sign Distance
Capricorn is the 2nd sign from Sagittarius, which forms the 2/12 — Dwirdwadash (द्विर्द्वादश) placement. The signs are next to each other. Classical texts link the 2/12 placement to friction over money, spending and family expectations, which is why Bhakoot scores it 0 unless the rashi lords rescue it. The lords Jupiter and Saturn are not mutual friends, so the dosha is not cancelled at sign level. It can still be offset in a full chart — strong Graha Maitri, a same-nakshatra-lord link or a high overall score are the usual remedies an astrologer checks.
Graha Maitri: Jupiter and Saturn
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and Capricorn by Saturn. In classical planetary friendship these lords are not friends, giving 0 of 5 points. Graha Maitri is read as mental compatibility — how easily the two agree, argue and make up.
Sagittarius and Capricorn in Love
In love, Sagittarius is free-spirited and honest while Capricorn is committed and steady. Fire wants speed, Earth wants certainty. When Fire's initiative meets Earth's follow-through the pair gets a lot done; when not, it is impatience versus caution.
Sagittarius is a Fire sign and Capricorn an Earth sign; the Moon in each shows what makes that partner feel safe, which is why rashi matching is used for marriage in India rather than Sun signs.
