A dosha is a specific planetary arrangement that classical texts flag as a source of friction in one area of life. It is worth being precise about what that does and does not mean, because this is the corner of astrology where fear sells hardest.
A dosha is a pattern, not a curse and not a judgement about a person. Most of them have documented cancellation conditions — dosha bhanga — and a competent reading checks those before treating the dosha as active at all. Mangal Dosha is commonly cancelled when both partners carry it, when Mars is exalted or in its own sign, or with age. Kaal Sarp weakens when benefics are strong or Rahu is well placed. Reporting the dosha and stopping there is half a reading.
Two practical notes. Different schools count some doshas from different reference points — the ascendant, the Moon, or Venus — which is why two sites can legitimately disagree about you; the calculators here state which rule they use. And the traditional remedies are mantra, charity, fasting and gemstones, all of which cost little. Treat any reading that demands a large payment to avert disaster as a sales technique rather than as astrology.
