Almost every number in numerology is fixed for life. The Personal Year is the exception — it advances each calendar year through a nine-year cycle, which is what makes it the number practitioners actually use for timing. Your personal month and day fall out of it, so all three are below.

How it works
Reduce your birth day, reduce your birth month, reduce the current calendar year, add the three and reduce again. Personal Month adds the calendar month to that and reduces; Personal Day adds the date. The cycle runs 1 to 9 and then restarts, with a 1 year read as a beginning and a 9 year as a clearing-out before the next one.

- Reduce your birth day to a single digit.
- Reduce your birth month to a single digit.
- Reduce the current calendar year to a single digit.
- Add those three and reduce again — that is the Personal Year.
- Add the current calendar month to the Personal Year and reduce for the Personal Month.
- Add today's date to the Personal Month and reduce for the Personal Day.
A worked example
Input: Born 15 August, calculating for 2026
- Birth day 15 → 1 + 5 = 6
- Birth month 8 → 8
- Year 2026 → 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10 → 1
- 6 + 8 + 1 = 15 → 1 + 5 = 6
Result: Personal Year 6 for 2026 — read as a year of responsibility, home and obligations to others.

- Broadly: 1 beginnings, 2 partnership and patience, 3 expression, 4 building and hard work, 5 change and movement, 6 responsibility and home, 7 study and withdrawal, 8 material results, 9 completion and letting go. A 9 followed by a 1 is read as the pivot of the whole cycle.
- This is the timing number
- Every other number in numerology is fixed at birth. The Personal Year is the one that moves, which is why practitioners reach for it when the question is "when" rather than "what".
- Month and day are texture
- The Personal Month is worth a glance; the Personal Day is fine-grained enough that most practitioners treat it as colour rather than something to plan around. The year carries the weight.
What changes the answer
- This uses the calendar year, so it turns over on 1 January — the most common convention. A minority of practitioners roll it at your birthday instead, which shifts the answer for part of the year.
- Only your birth day and month are used. The birth year is deliberately excluded, because the cycle is anchored to the current year.
- Master numbers are preserved in the intermediate reductions here, which can produce a different result from a calculator that flattens everything.
- The cycle is a scheme for reading time, not a prediction. What happens in a year is not determined by its number.
