How it works
The dosha depends on which house Mars occupies counted from your Lagna, so it needs an accurate birth time. This tool computes the ascendant, places Mars against it, and reports the house, the severity that house traditionally carries, and whether any standard cancellation applies.

A worked example

- Counting forward from Leo: Leo 1, Virgo 2, Libra 3 … Taurus 10
- House 10 is not in {1, 4, 7, 8, 12}

- Given how many charts qualify and how broad the cancellations are, treating the label as disqualifying is a misreading of the texts. It is also worth saying plainly that no scientific evidence links it to marital outcomes.
- Cancellation is half the reading
- Both partners carrying the dosha, Mars in its own sign or exalted, Mars aspected by Jupiter, and the dosha weakening with age are all standard. A reading that reports the dosha without checking cancellation has done half the job.
- Why sites disagree about you
- Some schools count from the Moon or from Venus as well as the ascendant, and some include the 2nd house. This uses the Lagna-based five-house rule, the most widely applied. A different reference point gives a legitimately different answer.
