How it works
Take only the consonants from your full birth name, convert each to its numeric value, sum them and reduce to a single digit, keeping 11, 22 and 33. It is the exact complement of the Soul Urge calculation: vowels give the inner number, consonants the outer one, and both together rebuild the Expression Number.

- Write out your full birth name.
- Remove the vowels, keeping every other letter.
- Convert each consonant to its numeric value and add them.
- Reduce to a single digit, keeping 11, 22 and 33.
A worked example
Input: The name "Pankaj Kumar Sharma"
- Consonants only: p, n, k, j, k, m, r, s, h, r, m
- Their values sum to 52
- 5 + 2 = 7
Result: Personality 7, ruled by Ketu — read as reserved, observant and harder to read on first meeting.
How to read your result
- It is the first impression
- This number is read as what people pick up before they know you — the surface manner rather than the inner motive. It is a component of the Expression Number, not a rival to it.
- The gap to Soul Urge is the interesting part
- A large distance between the outer number and the inner one is read as someone whose manner differs sharply from their motivation — often described as being hard to read. It is offered as a description, not a criticism.
- Consonants as structure
- The convention treats consonants as the sounds that shape and contain, and vowels as those that carry feeling. It is a symbolic split rather than a linguistic argument.
What changes the answer
- Y is treated as a consonant here, following the fixed A-E-I-O-U vowel rule. Sources that treat it as a vowel in some words will differ.
- Only letters score. Spaces, hyphens and punctuation are skipped, so "D'Souza" and "DSouza" give the same number.
- Use the birth name for the classical calculation.
- Different transliterations of the same name give different results — pick the spelling you actually use and stay consistent.

This calculator follows the fixed rule that A, E, I, O and U are vowels and everything else, including Y, is a consonant. Practitioners who treat Y as a vowel in some words will get a different result, which is a known divergence rather than an error.
Do spaces and punctuation matter?
No — only letters carry values. Spaces, hyphens, apostrophes and initials with full stops are skipped, so "D'Souza" and "DSouza" score the same.
